Ormond Beach Fishing Report 6-9-2014

Check out www.FishTomoka.com if you are interested in booking a fishing charter in the Daytona Beach Florida area.

The morning bite has been very good for the last week.  We have been catching some really nice size Trout on the oyster bars.  The last of the incoming and first hour or two of the outgoing is where the action is.  Along with the trout, there have been some fat Pompano as well.

In my opinion the Pompano is about the best tasting fish out there.  Free lined shrimp will do the trick for both species.  You can also expect to catch Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, and Mangrove Snapper.  We are also catching some big Redfish fishing the docks in Ormond Beach.

The Redfish will have a hard time refusing a live mullet or shrimp.  Last week we took a trip up the Tomoka River and found a few schools of Tarpon up to 40 pounds but could not get them to eat anything.  We did manage to jump one on a DOA Shrimp.  That concludes the fishing news for this week.  Have fun out there.

Daytona Beach Fishing Charter Inshore Report 5-14-2014

For more information, check out our site www.fishtomoka.com The fishing is really starting to heat up here in the Daytona Beach Florida area! We have been focusing on topwater action in the morning all the way to 10-11am some days.

Tarpon

Snook

Redfish

and Trout...

...are the main game fish that will pounce on the topwater lures. In Ormond Beach there has been a steady increase in Jack Crevalle. In my opinion the Jack is one of the area's most underrated game fish species. Tie him tail to tail with any other species and I bet he will win. As a fishing guide in the Daytona Beach area, I sometimes rely on the powerful Jacks when the other fish have lock jaw and my clients want a good fight. The Flounder have also been a reliable catch lately. Just yesterday I stopped at the rivers edge after dropping my kids off at school and within 10 minutes had a really nice fish nail my crankbait. I don't keep fish very often these days but I decided this one would make a fine meal for the family (and it did!).

Ormond Beach Fishing Charter 4-29-2014

Today was a bittersweet day. It was the last charter scheduled on my Pathfinder flats boat and she will be missed. My new bay boat will be taking over from here on out. If you would like to learn more about it click here. I could not have picked a better day to retire the flats boat, she left us with a bang! We launched out of Ormond Beach and fished Strickland Creek and the Tomoka River. The Grandfather/Grandson team caught a Trout and a 26" Redfish within the first 15 minutes. This set the pace for what turned out to be a busy day on the water. They fought some good size Black Drum, 2 near slot Snook, a couple Sheepshead, a bunch of nice Snapper, and a keeper Flounder . Although we could have filled the cooler, my clients only asked to keep a single fish for dinner that night. As you know, I am always preaching about the importance of conserving our natural resources. It is so rewarding to charter so many like minded people! What a great day! Capt.
