Due to the high number of calls, texts, emails, pm's, and Facebook wall posts, I will try to post a quick report via my phone. Computer has been down for a while now but I have been back on the water for some time. I know a lot of you are ion vacation and wouldn't mind a few pointers.
Ill start with Strickland Creek. We have found massive schools of legal sized trout. You know the spots where you cast a light colored jig and get a keeper almost every cast. Remember trout season is still closed so catch and release only. I have also come across some nice little schools of redfish waayyy back in, under us1 around the train tracks. I thought for sure I had finally found my long lost beloved snook but it was redfish city back there. That's about it for me in Strickland. Ive heard a few guys talk of a decent flounder bite back there but I haven't really seen it. Out in the basin and Halifax surrounding it, the bite has been ON if you can catch a break from the north and south winds. The water is clearing up nicely and allowing for some decent flounder gigging. We got 16 about a week ago. There has been a nice mixed bag of fish around the docks in the basin. I've heard the drum bite has been on and off at the bridge, I haven't gone after those tasty treats in a while though. I would imagine the sheepshead will be picking up anytime now. Trout are all over the place and will continue to be until opening day, then they will magically disappear. Scout your spots now and get ready. This is a great time of year to fish. I hope this helps.
